Special Kinda Broken

Special Kinda Broken combines poetry and writing walking you through the prepubescent child sex trafficking abuse of survivor Gabrielle Monroe. Child sex trafficking is a form of rape that leaves a lifetime of barriers and obstacles for survivors.

In 1990 there wasn't a term for this type of abuse. We referred to this form of abuse as being raped and traded for drugs and ice cream money. Today this form of child rape is known as sex trafficking.

Join survivor Gabrielle Monroe as she recounts seven instances of abuse experienced age 10 and younger. Continue reading to explore where the system failed, how we can support child sex trafficking survivors and ways to work towards prevention.

You will find more questions than answers in this book. To end child sex trafficking, we must first center survivors and listen to lived experiences. Sex trafficking survivors are the experts of their life.
